Just 8km (5 miles) from the heart of Berlin, Tegel is well connected to the city center. Two public buses (109 and X9) will whisk you into the center of the city for €2. Between four and 12 buses run every hour. The Expressbus X9 journeys between Tegel and the Zoologischer Garten station, with transit time lasting about 40 minutes. A direct bus shuttle, JetExpressBus TXL, takes about 30 minutes to travel between Tegel and Alexanderplatz. It also costs €2.10, and runs three to four times an hour between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. Taxis will run between €15 and €25 into the city.

Just 7km (4 miles) from the center of Berlin, Tempelhof is served by the U6 U-Bahn line (€2.10 per journey). Taxis from Tempelhof into Berlin's central districts can be as inexpensive as €12.(Bus lines 104, 184, and 341 also provide transportation from the airport to the city).

Schönefeld, 18km (11 miles) from the center of Berlin, increasingly takes a big share of budget airline traffic. The best mode of transportation between Schönefeld and the center of Berlin is the Airport Express, which operates to and from a little train station just across the boulevard from the airport. Airport Express runs twice an hour and will only set you back €2.10 The journey into the city should take between 25 and 40 minutes. The S9 S-Bahn train provides another option into the city. A bit slower than the Airport Express, it takes between 40 and 60 minutes to get into the city. Like the Airport Express, the S-Bahn option is inexpensive at just €2.10 per journey.
How to get in from the major train stations
Berlin features several major train stations, the most major of which is the gleaming and impressive Hauptbahnhof. Other major train stations include Zoologischer Garten, Friedrichstrasse, Alexanderplatz, and Ostbahnhof. All train stations are connected to multiple U-Bahn and S-Bahn lines.
