A brother property to nearby Isaacs Hostel, Jacobs Inn (which, despite its name, is actually a hostel) shares the same staff and bustling atmosphere. Built with large groups in mind, this place is constantly restoring, refurbishing, and reinventing itself to handle any load—even you.
Located near the Custom House, just north of the Liffey in Dublin's business district, Jacobs's is a five-minute walk to O'Connell Street and a 10-minute walk to Parnell Square or Trinity College. A police station nearby gives hostellers an extra sense of security in an already safe part of Dublin.
The recently remodeled dining area and cafeteria are particularly impressive. The TV lounge in the mezzanine has been converted into a video room where hostellers can watch movies on a big screen while chilling out on slick chairs and comfortable couches. The kitchen facilities are clean, and reliable steel-framed beds furnish the bedrooms. Along with dormitories, which sleep four to 12 people, there are also doubles, triples, and quadruples for those who'd like a little more privacy.
The meager, though included, breakfast consists of a hot beverage, juice, and toast. If you need something more substantial to start off your day, you can buy a heartier breakfast at the excellent onsite bar/restaurant. Rate discounts are offered during quieter times of the year.
