A portrait of Queen Margaret of Denmark, decked out in all her royal garb, decorates the lobby, along with illustrations of Hans Christian Anderson tales. Many staffmembers are Danish as well, including those in the kitchen, who whip up a mean Danish buffet for breakfast for a few euros extra.
The large, cozy rooms are decorated with warm tones and prints of Scandinavian art. All have private bathrooms. Furnishings are somewhat dated (though we've heard renovation rumors), windows are relatively small, and ceilings are on the low side. But the staff is super helpful, the reception is welcoming, and the rates are not unreasonable.
There's a penthouse room with a kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, stereo, television, and phone. It also boasts a beautiful terrace with attractive deck furniture, perfect for an al fresco dinner.
From the hotel, it's about a 10 minute walk to the water.
