Italian-owned Hotel Lasserhof, a stately townhouse in a residential part of Schallmoos near Mirabellgarten, is an absolutely delightful value—well, that is if you're there at the right time. Rates at this 28-room hotel jump wildly throughout the year, which means that the same room could cost €72 in the low season but double that amount during the music festival season.
That said, the Lasserhof in the low season is perfect for just about everyone, including groups of younger travelers and families.
We like the rooms, with their puffy white comforters, dark wood furniture, and thick curtains. All rooms have cable TV, a minibar, and free Wi-Fi. Balconies overlooking the quiet street are available in some rooms. The bathrooms are en suite, but in some rooms the toilet is separate from the shower and sink—a definite plus.
The enormous attic rooms are by far our favorite: airy spaces with wood-beamed dormer ceilings, enormous windows, and huge bathrooms with a skylight right above the tub!
The Lasserhof welcomes pets. The included breakfast is served until noon. If you're too lazy to get out of bed before then, you can have it delivered to your room.
