Italian-owned Hotel Lasserhof, a stately townhouse in a residential part of Schallmoos, is an absolutely delightful value—well, that is if you're there at the right time. Rates at this lovely 28-room hotel jump wildly throughout the year, which means that the same room could cost €72 in the low season but double that amount during the music festival season.
That said, Lasserhof in the low season is perfect for just about everyone, including groups of younger travelers and families.
We liked the rooms with their puffy white comforters, dark wood furniture, and thick curtains. All rooms have cable TV, minibar, and free Wi-Fi. Balconies overlooking the quiet street are available in some rooms. Bathrooms are en suite, but some rooms have the toilet separated from the shower and sink—a definite plus.
The enormous attic rooms were by far our favorite: airy spaces with wood-beamed dormer ceilings, enormous windows, and huge bathrooms with a skylight right above the tub!
Lasserhof welcomes pets. Breakfast is served until noon. If you're too lazy to get out of bed before then, you can have it delivered to your room.
